Recently, Shenzhen KSTAR Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (KSTAR) announced to deepen cooperation with Infineon China in KSTAR's high-power, high-frequency UPS systems. Infineon will provide a comprehensive portfolio of power semiconductor solutions, including its 1200V CoolSiC™ MOSFETs and diodes, 650V CoolSiC™ MOSFETs, and EiceDRIVER™ single-channel isolated gate drivers.

Having collaborated for over three decades,  KSTAR and Infineon have established a close cooperation on in UPS and photovoltaic (PV) inverter technologies. Being KSTAR’s key semiconductor supplier, Infineon has driven the evolution of power devices—from Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) to Silicon Carbide (SiC)-based solutions—thereby enhancing the application value of advanced power semiconductors in UPS systems. The collaboration has also expanded into the renewable energy sector, where Infineon's power modules are widely adopted in KSTAR's PV inverters, setting new benchmarks for power density and energy efficiency.

Addressing Global Demand for Next-Gen Data Centers

As data centers worldwide rapidly transition toward higher efficiency and compact designs, demand for high-frequency, medium-to-high-power UPS systems continues to surge. Industry analysis indicates that with the proliferation of 5G, AI, and cloud computing, the global data center market is projected to exceed $15 billion by 2025. UPS systems, as critical power infrastructure, now face increasingly stringent requirements for efficiency, power density, and reliability. Traditional silicon-based devices, however, facing limitations in efficiency, thermal managementand size, posing challenges to industry progress. Against this backdrop, KSTAR and Infineon have deepened their collaboration to achieve a breakthrough in KSTAR's 100kVA online UPS system, delivering next-generation solutions that prioritize high frequency, high efficiency, and ultra-reliability.
